Promotes and maintains health by providing medical services under the supervision of a physician. Performs physical assessments, documents all patient encounters in chart, educates patients in wellness plans, refers to specialists and outside testing, elicits and reviews health histories, orders and interprets diagnostic testing, develops and initiates treatment plans, which include prescribing medication. Training will be provided as appropriate.

Nurse Practitioner license in the state of New Mexico.
Must possess a Master’s degree or successful completion of an approved NP program.
Must be able to work independently, have good interpersonal skills and work as part of a team, while being flexible and adaptable to changing situations.
Requires two + years experience in medical practice or equivalent.

Contributes to physician’s effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing physician directives.

Patient Care

Diagnostic treatment and capabilities consistent with the training of a certified nurse practitioner.
Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
Communicates effectively in written and oral form, and can maintain effective working relationships with other providers and support staff.
Use independent judgment and initiative, while organizing and directing several activities for health care and prevention.
Knowledge of nurse practitioner rules and regulations. Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
Good knowledge of various types of medical equipment, instruments and medications and their reactions.
Ensures quality patient care.
Appreciates the dignity of the individual, and is a leader in advocating for quality of life for both individuals and the community as a whole.
Deliver the highest quality of health care services.

On-going Training:

Attend conferences and meetings for CE credits.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Other Duties:

Participates in office meetings, providing new ideas and concepts that may contribute to overall efficiency of the office, quality patient care, and good communication.
Other duties as needed or requested.
